Our MissionTo be an advocate for the families and survivors of the ministers of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. This is accomplished by presenting seminars and workshops dealing with areas of professionalism, ethics, image, children's issues, retirement planning, family planning, health and fitness, vocation and avocation pressures, clergy family stress and recreation.
Our ProfileThe AME Ministers' Spouses, Widows and Widowers Organization, Plus P.K.'s was organized in St. Louis Missouri in 1989 by a group of concerned Episcopal Supervisors, Ministers' Spouses, Widows and Pastors. Dr. Dorothy Owens was the founding president. Dr. Owens continued to serve faithfully through June of 1997. In June of 1997, at the site of the Bishops Council and General Board Meeting, the organization elected its second president, Mrs. Ora L. Easley. At General Conference 2000 in Cincinnati, Ohio, President Easley diligently succeeded in making CONN-M-SWAWO, Plus P.K.'s a Connectional Organization. See AME Discipline, pages 487 - 492. Sis. Easley served us efficiently for 8 years through June 2005. In June of 2005, at the site of the Bishop’s Council and General Board Meeting in Dallas, TX, the Organization elected its third President, Mrs. Fredia A. Hanley-Johnson.
